Why Purchase Calacatta Marble Counters San Diego, CA

The finest marble used during the Roman Empire came from the Carrara quarries in Tuscany, the same region where Calacatta is extracted. Carrara marble is highly sought after by homeowners and interior designers in North America, but Calacatta is often considered to be more exotic and luxurious, and with proper care it can last forever. If you want a look that’s both classic and trendy, Calacatta marble should be at the top of your list. Here are five reasons Calacatta marble would be a great choice for your kitchen and bathroom countertops.

It’s Prestigious

While both Carrara and Calacatta marble share the same Tuscan origin near the Apuan mountain range, there aren’t as many quarries where the latter can be extracted. In other words, Carrara is more common because it’s more abundant. The reason Calacatta marble was named as such is because Roman explorers and traders who returned from the Indian city of Kolkata, also known as Calcutta, described the place as being as exotic as the appearance of Calacatta marble.

Check out this video explaining the easy 3-step process of caring for Calacatta marble, granite, and other types of natural stone:

It Has an Exquisite Look

Whereas Carrara marble features fine veining that creates a very soft contrast with the color of the stone, Calacatta offers a bolder and more dramatic appearance. The patterns are more discernible and seem to be heavier. Furthermore, the veining may also feature blue, gray, and even gold coloring.

There’s More Than One Type to Choose From

There are as many variations of Calacatta as there are of Carrara marble. The blocks extracted from the Borghini quarry in Tuscany are legendary because their gold veining creates a beautiful reflection under natural light. If your kitchen center island or counters get sunlight, this is a highly recommended choice. Calacatta Oro is a more reasonably priced option similar to Borghini, but you can also consider other kinds such as Manhattan Emerald and Caldia, which have nice hints of green coloring. The softer veining can be found in Calacatta Crema, which ranges between creamy white to beige.

It Can Boost the Value of Your Home

Just as some homebuyers are known to search the Multiple Listing Service for specific terms such as “swimming pool” and “lanai,” others look for listings that include Calacatta marble as part of the description. Not all buyers plan on installing their own countertops. Many prefer to bid on properties where their favorite type of natural stone is already in place.

It’s Not Difficult to Maintain

You can think of Calacatta marble as a beautiful stone that’s also an investment, which mean it deserves to be carefully maintained. With a marble and granite cleaner such as Granite Gold Daily Cleaner®, as well as Granite Gold Sealer® and Granite Gold Polish®, keeping your Calacatta countertops maintained isn’t only easy but also enjoyable.

If you have marble flooring, you shouldn’t polish the floors because they could become slippery. For polished floors, seek a professional stone restoration specialist in your area with the proper tools and training. However, they should still be regularly sealed and cleaned with a marble and granite squeeze & mop floor cleaner. At Granite Gold®, all of our products are safe to use on marble, granite, slate, and all other types of natural stone. To learn more, call 1-800-475-STONE (7866) today.
